World Without Rainbows 31 Part 2
Applejack needed a good reason to get Spitfire to stop watching Trixie and come back to the abandoned home they had purloined for sleeping in, and she figured that "a mirror image of one of my best friends wants to kill you" probably wasn't going to cut it. And there was an easy way to do that if Applejack didn’t mind playing with a vulnerable mare’s emotions.
She wasn’t much of a liar, but for Apple Bloom she’d try anything. So once the interrogation was over she took Spitfire outside and propositioned her. Spitfire had been surprisingly receptive to her advances. Applejack had more trouble convincing the surpris

Nightmare Moon basked in the glow of her victory. And then she asked her next question. “Would you perform a Sonic Rainboom for me?”
Rainbow was blindsided by the question, although she shouldn't have been. Of course Nightmare Moon still wanted her to perform a Sonic Rainboom. She was the only one alive who could. And since it had the power to create an easy passage from one world to the other, that made her powerful. And Nightmare Moon would do everything possible to squeeze that power from her.

I couldn't do it. Every time I opened my mouth to speak, a sudden wave of what-ifs, doubts, and alternative solutions bowled me over. So many things needed to be said, but none of them wanted to be first. They all depended on one another, tightly interwoven in a net of insecurities, a net that I had been forming for quite some time now and which, finally complete, was determined to squeeze the life out of me until there wasn't anything left.
It shouldn't be this tough, I told myself. You're strong. A ferocious beast. A dragon. A real man.
And then I remembered how none of that was true at all.
I looked across the room, trying my absolute h

For Applejack, the first few days were a blur.
It sounded cliché, but that really was the only way to describe it. The memories, at least the ones she could recall with any sort of clarity, had no starting or ending points, simply fading into one another, occasionally separated by the calm darkness of sleep. Everything was hazy until she tried to focus her eyes, at which point the sudden sharpness of it nearly blinded her. Voices were stretched out and distorted, and she couldn't tell who was speaking to her, other than that the voice was uncannily familiar.

I'm going to let you in on a secret.
There's no such thing as time.
When you sit alone, how do you know that time passes? Maybe the clock moves. Maybe you get hungry or thirsty. Maybe the sun goes down and leaves you in the dark. That's how it worked in ancient days. People believed in time because they could see the sun go around the earth.
But what if they couldn't? If you can't see change happening right in front of your eyes, you can't prove that time exists. Ironically, once you stop believing in time, you have loads of it to spare and nothing to do with it but think. And

Jasper Felklot and Amy Tang were two halves of a greater whole; their reflections in each other produced a peculiar symmetry. They had spent most of their lives together; they thought the same thoughts; they strove for the same ideals. This was what Jasper had always known to be true and what Amy now believed to be a lie that she herself had fabricated. For two years they were separated. They had been reunited with just enough time to die.
How interesting, the Center mused. Together they lived. Together they had fallen. Together they died.

Next to him, Amy simultaneously choked and giggled. The end result was an awful lot of asphyxiation. "I'll admit it, Jasper," she said. "I don't think I've ever seen anybody run that fast." The air around them seemed thick and heavy, and both felt extremely light headed. Whether this re

He remembered when he hated this, not too long ago, as he floated gracefully through the sky that was filled with explosions of shrapnel. He nonchalantly stared at his target, the larger of the two opposing Zeppelins. Normally, a Zeppelin would flee from anything more than a one on one encounter, but most Zeppelins didn't have boarding parties like Jasper. And the captain took full advantage of him. He shot a quick glance at his watch before pulling the ignition. It just seemed to make things easier somehow.

To say that Eden was located at the center of the universe would have been close to the truth, but not entirely accurate. A learned estimate tempered with understanding might say that Eden was located not at the center of the universe, but ever so slightly off center. One day it might truly exist at that focal point of time and space, but only for the briefest of moments.
The center of the universe was not static.
There are very few sane beings who can confidently claim that the universe revolved around them. Most of those beings are uninformed. Naïve.
But the Center of the Universe would forgive

Jasper had always admired the way the light reflected off the brass domes of the capitol. With its glistening paved roads and towering spires, the city of Eden was fully deserving of its title of "Paradise on Earth."
Assuming, of course, that you didn't actually live there. To a tourist, the streets were the shining diamond in the crown of an already magnificent region. To Jasper, it was just noise.
Even as the sun began its downward arc, the main streets were still crowded. The entire distance to the Great Hall was lined with stalls, each manned with a vendor trying to unload his own variety of good. A shirtles

The truth is BTW is that I LIKE mental change. When it gives the impression of a clean slat, a new you, free to start over again, a purity and innocence that doesn't normally exist. And the fulfillment of finally being HAPPY with your lot in life.
But it's not meant to be a tool of slavery ironically for me.
